South Texas Land For Sale

The South Texas Plains, also known as the Rio Grande Plains or the "Brush Country," is located south of the Balcones Escarpment, below a line from Del Rio to San Antonio. The southernmost part of this area, known as the Rio Grande Valley, is a more subtropical region with more diverse vegetation. Livestock grazing and crop production have been the primary agricultural land uses in this region over the last century. However, white-tailed deer hunting has also become a noteworthy activity. The excellent habitat in this area supports various wildlife species such as white-tailed deer, javelina, feral hogs, mountain lions, bobcats, Rio Grande turkey, northern bobwhite quail, and scaled quail. Additionally, it is a major stopover point for all species of migratory game birds, waterbirds, and neotropical songbirds.
